Our website design process

Building a website with Seedling is attacked with a proven collaborative process

Nikki made working with her so easy with clear emails and step by step instructions for what she needed from me!

We now have an online presence that matches our brand and beliefs and its something to be proud of!

Will definitely be working with Nikki again!!!

1. Kick off

Projects start with a face to face consultation (or face to zoom for remote clients) so I can get a feel for you, your personal brand, and what you’re looking to achieve.

2. Dig in

Clients complete a questionnaire that runs through brand stories, achievements, offerings and the nitty-gritty. We look at the big picture, and the finer details. What do clients come to your site to do? How will you share your vision, vibe and values? What makes your clients convert?

3. Back end

I head off and complete the back of house technical components. I install WordPress to your cPanel / host. I install and set up all of the necessary plugins to help your website work as efficiently as possible, and be as Google compliant as possible. I set up the styling and configure the back of house settings.

4. Home page design and build

The home page sets the tone for the rest of the site. It gives the viewer an overview of your offer, and invites them to go deeper. It’s important it lands, function, design and copy wise. This is the page that takes me the longest for any website. There is so much that goes into this to do well! Heading structure, alt tags, image titles, spacing, responsiveness, micro-interactions, colour, copy, composition, calls to action! At this stage I encourage clients to start teasing that a change is coming. To create some hype and interest amongst their clients.

5. Client review

Clients get access to their website to visually submit feedback. This system keeps changes all in one place, allows tracking and job management, and makes it easy to provide any required copy or files. Yay for less emails!

6. Full build

I make any amends, and based on the homepage vibe I get to work building out the rest of the site. This includes additional pages, blog templates, shop etc. This varies depending on the package purchased by the client.

7. Final review

Last call! The client receives full access to their site, so they can see exactly what their clients see. This can be viewed via desktop, tablet and mobile.

8. Testing

One final step for me here. One last sweep before go-live to ensure everything is perfect. I do a deep dive checking links, copy, responsiveness, website flow, user experience and function.

9. Go time

Your shiny new website is released to the world! I provide clients with mockups to announce the change to their followers and am on stand by in case of any issues or errors on the day. Touch wood, I’ve never been called in yet!

10. The magic

To wrap up my end of the project, your site is submitted to Google + Bing search consoles!

11. Handover

Clients are given full access to their site. I provide video tutorials for making minor changes, and adding blog posts using a pre built, styled template if this was part of the clients chosen package.

I also offer ongoing maintenance packages at a discounted rate for clients who have been through the build process with me.
